Come passa il tempo.... / As time goes by....
In questi giorni di fine anno ho rimesso un pò d'ordine nei miei acquerelli e ho ritrovato questi quattro vecchi dipinti del 2006. Quanto tempo è passato da allora e come è cambiato il mio modo di approcciare l'acquerello. Però resto molto affezionato a questi miei primi lavori, anche perchè mi ricordano tanti bei momenti e vecchie emicizie ormai lontane.
In these days of end of year, I put some order with my watercolors and I have found these four old paintings of 2006. How much time has passed since then, and how it has changed my way of approaching watercolor. But I remain very fond of these my early works, also because they remind me many beautiful moments and old friendships, long gone.

Il Parco delle Cave (Milano)
Il Parco delle Cave, con un estensione di 135 ettari, è il secondo parco di Milano per dimensioni, dopo il Parco Nord. Situato nella parte ovest della città, è caratterizzato da quattro piccoli laghi, uno stagno artificiale, diversi corsi d'acqua, boschi e da un'estesa area agricola.
Nel parco vive una grande varietà di uccelli, oltre che numerosi piccoli mammiferi e rettili. Insieme al Boscoincittà e al Parco di Trenno, costituisce parte del Parco Agricolo Sud Milano.
Quando si visita il Parco delle Cave ci si dimentica di essere circondati da una metropoli come Milano, i laghetti, lo stagno, il verde, la fauna, e tutto il resto, trasformano questo bel luogo in un'oasi di pace. Ecco perchè questo parco è uno dei miei soggetti preferiti, ed è solo a 12 km da dove vivo.
Quando si visita il Parco delle Cave ci si dimentica di essere circondati da una metropoli come Milano, i laghetti, lo stagno, il verde, la fauna, e tutto il resto, trasformano questo bel luogo in un'oasi di pace. The Parco delle Cave, with an area of 135 hectares, is the second largest park in Milan, after the Parco Nord. Located in the west of the city, is characterized by four little lakes, an artificial pond, some waterways, woods and an extensive agricultural area.
In the park live a great variety of birds, as well as several small mammals and reptiles. Together with Boscoincittà and Parco di Trenno, it forms part of the South Milan Agricultural Park.
When you visit the Parco delle Cave you forget to be surrounded by a big city like Milan, the small lakes, the pond, the greens, the animals, and everything else, make this nice place an oasis of peace. That's why this park is one of my favorite subjects, and, last but not least, is only 12 km away from where I live.

Giornata Mondiale dell'Acquerello / World Day of Watercolor
Dimostrazione di David Chauvin
Nell'ambito della Giornata Mondiale dell'Acquerello organizzata dall'A.I.A. (Associazione Italiana Acquarellisti), ho assistito ad una dimostrazione del pittore francese David Chauvin. La sua tecnica è piuttosto diversa da quella che generalmente uso io e si basa principalmente sulla pittura "bagnato su bagnato". Prima di iniziare a dipingere, David bagna il foglio da tutte e due le facce, con una grandissima quantità d'acqua. Praticamente il foglio rimane bagnato / umido per quasi tutto il tempo necessario alla realizzazione dell'acquerello. Questa tecnica così diversa mi ha incuriosito e qualche giorno fa ho provato a dipingere più o meno lo stesso soggetto proposto da David.
Quello che vedete a sinistra è il risultato del mio esperimento.

Within of the World Day of Watercolor organized by the A.I.A. (Italian Association of Watercolorists), I attended a demonstration of the French painter David Chauvin. His technique is quite different from the one I generally use and is based mainly on painting "wet on wet". Before starting to paint, David wets the sheet from both sides with a very large amount of water. Basically, the sheet remains wet / damp for almost all the time necessary to complete the watercolor. His technique has intrigued me, and a few days ago, I tried to paint more or less the same subject proposed by David.
What you see on the left is the result of my experiment.
